May 7, 2015, just became an important date in WSC history! Today the WSC closed on 8.7 acres of land on Cross Street, and with Heimlich LCC and Northeast Turf ready to start working, the Winchester Community Park Phase I build-out is about to begin!
Thanks to the incredible support of the community and our generous benefactors, soon WSC sandlot & travel players, and our Sachems FC club teams, will have two of the finest quality synthetic turf surfaces available anywhere as home fields.
Special thanks to the following individuals and organizations, who are responsible for making this fantastic dream a reality:
The Connolly Family
The Kingston Family
John Moriarty & Associates
Joop & Suzanne Grevelink
Tom and Susan Turpin
The Stephen R Baum Foundation
Nancy & Scott Powers
Jackie & David Hennessey
Gary & Anne Simon
Jim & Margaret Wade
The Change the World Foundation
Thomas & Kristen Zarrella
Florence & Richard Kaplow
Jan & Brian Koss
…and to the countless others who have contributed to the project with generous donations of time and money, to help accomplish what many believed to be impossible.
“The difficult is what takes a little time; the impossible is what takes a little longer” Fridtjof Nansen
Special thanks to the WSC Board members, and WCP Committee members for their persistence during the approval and permitting phase. The WSC also appreciates the outstanding efforts of Attorneys Robert Annese and Sam Nagler for their invaluable legal guidance, and Craig Miller and Jacob Murray of Waterfield Design Group for their excellent design work. Thanks also to Eric Harstad, of Moriarty & Associates for his expertise and assistance. And our appreciation also goes out to Connors & Donahue for their fundraising assistance, and to Dan Daglio, Mike Doherty, Michelle Ross, Barbara Landau and Larry Stone.
